Viva Las Vegas

Viva Day 1 – Thursday

This day got more or less consumed by having a photoshoot with Susana Vestige, and preparations for that.

I had to go over to a different hotel and locate Cherry Bee, a pinup model from Poland/Belgium, she had been kind enough to buy a pair of Loretta gold lurex shoes from Miss L Fire during her trip in Los Angeles a few days earlier. They were going to be finishing touch to my gold lurex outfit in my photo shoot with Susana Vestige. You can read about my shoot and outfits in my previous blogpost.

I bought this wonderful mint green dress on Instagram form MidCenturyMommy after the dress did not work out for her. It was a nice dress to wear so I would not get a lot of red marks from the clothing before my photoshoot. I also brought with me a vintage kimono I had purchased in a Ooh La La! a group for buying and selling vintage clothing on Facebook.

After the photoshoot I met up with my friend from Norway, Torunn. She had arrived that day and we were first hanging out in her room before we went out to wait for our Uber to take us over to The Orleans and Viva.
Whilst waiting, what felt like a whole buss of German Tourists stopped to take our picture in the lobby.

Finally at Viva for the day, we met up with Elisa. We ended up matching accidentally in gold lurex, and black handbags

Day 2 – Friday

Another day, another shoot. I knew this would be a jam-packed day, but that didn’t stop me! Had to set my hair in rollers in the morning for my shoot that evening, and had to to it before I went to wait in line for tickets to the Burlesque Show Case featuring Dita Von Teese.

Heading out the door in my morning outfit was then foam rollers, headscarf and a swing dress from Bernie Dexter. I was going to the shoot later that day, so I only put on lipstick (I almost never leave the house without). We stood in line for tickets for about an eternity. I don’t remember how long, but let1s guesstimate for 2 hours. I had abandoned Torunn for a little while, because I had forgot something at the hotel room, and when I found her later she had made two new queue buddies (Heather and Eric).

First: Selfie with Torunn in my hotel room. Second: Selfie with Elisa in the queue for tickets. In the hours before my shoot, Torunn and I went to all the same Antique shops in S Main Street as I had done with Elisa and of course I found even more dresses to buy.

After our vintage shopping, we went back to the hotel to leave all our stuff. Torunn joined me at The Polo Towers for my photoshoot with Shogun Photography, but had to leave in order to get ready for the Burlesque Showcase that night. More from this shoot will come in a later blogpost.

Went over to The Orleans with my hair and makeup done, Gaia dress from Pinup Girl Clothing.

Met up with Josh, Torunn, Elisa, Heather and Eric and we were all ready to see Dita Von Teese and the rest of the acts. We had gotten pretty good seats, not too far back and not too far to the sides either. The Burlesque Showcase was great and I thoroughly enjoyed Dita’s acts, but my favourite was the Star Wars inspired acts.

Day 3 – Saturday

Got up early to have my hair done by Melissa Firestone so I would be ready for the Car Show at Viva and the rest of the day too. She had done my hair once before in Los Angeles and I will recommend her to anyone looking for someone to do vintage hairstyling in LA area, or at Viva.

Selfie from the car on the way to the car show and a picture next to a (to me) random car. I really enjoyed walking through all the rows of cars with Torunn and Josh. Josh took it upon himself to tell Torunn and me about the cars we looked at, and gave the whole experience a little more merit. We watched the Miss Viva Las Vegas Pin-Up Contest and it was so fun to see all the faces on stage, and some in the audience of those what had signed up and was apart of the voting rounds. Those on stage of course made it through, and the winner ended up being the lovely Miss Monique Sweet! Their outfits, hair and makeup that the contestants wore on stage was mind blowing!

My dress is a vintage dress I bought in a thrift shop in Oslo. It’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever bought. This was a day with terrible full size pictures of my outfits, so this is as good as it gets!

After the car show, we went to have a little food and a short rest before we went back that night for the final day at Viva for us.

This is the best photos I have from my evening outfit. This is one of the most beautiful dresses I own, and I ended up having it ruined by the dry cleaners at the hotel. This is a Samuel Winston by Roxane dress, made from pure silk, with a sequin covered bust and front panel. I had to include a full length picture from when I was doing my packing.

Josh and I spent the evening walking around The Orleans, looking at the vendor halls, ballrooms with music, downstairs casino. Tried to locate other Norwegians that was there, but so many people and not a single person I was looking for was to be found.

Day 5 – Sunday

Sunday is not included in my Viva post, as you can read about in my next blogpost.
